General Information
'RNS 315' Radio/Navigation System
Note
Familiarity with the function and operation of the digital sound system is needed if there are customer concerns.
Refer to the Owner's Manual and → No.397 for additional information.
Anti-theft code is equipped with protection code number. Refer to → Chapter 'Anti-Theft Code'.
For servicing or trouble shooting, use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester'Guided Fault Finding' and → Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component locations
When the battery is reconnected, check any affected system or component (radio, clock, comfort electrical connection etc.) according to the repair manual.
For proper function of the navigation system, rotation angle sensor in unit must be set corresponding to installation position of unit in the vehicle. Therefore, always note the replacement part number when replacing the unit. An incorrect installation causes malfunctions in the navigation system.

Anti-Theft Code
Gemeral Information
The 'RNS 315' has anti-theft coding, which operates in conjunction with the instrument cluster.After disconnecting the power supply, the radio navigation system is ready to be used again once the power supply is connected. The anti-theft code does not need to be entered again. The anti-theft coding must be activated for the first time and the radio navigation system must be connected in the same vehicle.
Reactivating a locked radio/navigation system is only possible by entering correct radio code number for anti-theft protection.Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to get the anti-theft code. The radio card and the label on the radio that were used in the past are no longer used.
Note
The Vehicle Diagnostic Tester must be connected 'online' (network connection) to determine the anti-theft code. The user must have proper authorization to access the anti-theft code.

Retrieving the Anti-Theft System Code Using the VAS Tester:
Select 'Guided Functions'Guided Fault Finding' in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
After all control modules have been checked:
Press the 'GO TO' button.
Select 'Functions/Component selection'.
Select 'Body'.
Select 'Electrical Equipment'.
Select '01-OBD-capable system'.
Select 'radio or radio navigation system'.
Select 'Functions'
Select and start 'radio code inquiry'.
Authorization will be requested from the system: Then the operating data, the VIN and the radio serial number of the radio/navigation system will be automatically read out.

Gemeral Information
The 'RNS 315' has anti-theft coding, which operates in conjunction with the instrument cluster.After disconnecting the power supply, the radio navigation system is ready to be used again once the power supply is connected. The anti-theft code does not need to be entered again. The anti-theft coding must be activated for the first time and the radio navigation system must be connected in the same vehicle.
Reactivating a locked radio/navigation system is only possible by entering correct radio code number for anti-theft protection.Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester to get the anti-theft code. The radio card and the label on the radio that were used in the past are no longer used.
Note

Note
When installing a new radio or one that has not been adapted to the vehicle yet, the tester may not be able to read the radio device number. In this case, enter the device number manually. The serial number can be found on a sticker on the unit and is also stamped into the side of the unit.Then the anti-theft code will be displayed in the tester.

Turn on the radio/navigation.
Enter the anti-theft code appearing in the display in the 'RNS 315' number block and confirm it.
Unit is enabled and ready for operation.
Note
If the wrong radio code number was entered when overriding the electronic lock, first 'SAFE' blinks in the display and '1000' appears again. The entire process may be repeated one more time. The number of tries is shown in the display. The unit will lock for approximately one hour if an incorrect code is entered again. That mean, it cannot be used. This lock is indicated by the word 'SAFE' appearing continuously in the display. After one hour has elapsed in which the unit and the ignition must be switched on, the number of attempts disappears and the electronic lock can be deactivated again as described above. The cycle 'two attempts, locked for one hour' still applies.

Nach dem Öffnen des Zielspeichers wird die Funktionsfläche 'Löschen' bzw. 'Bearbeiten und Löschen' überhaupt nicht angeboten. Es wird nur die Funktion 'Details' angeboten!
